How to NOT save open files/tabs

Post by davidmyemail »

I would like to NOT have V save my open tabs and files, or to state it differently, I would like it to always open with 1 tab on the directory tat I choose. In my case I want it to open on c:\usr\test

I created a shortcut to to start in c:\usr\test and I have the target as "c:\util\v\v.exe c:\usr\test"

But during the course of using V, I open several tabs, and if I close V and start it again, it keeps all the directories that I had open.

How do I make it forget all those tabs and only open with 1?

I am using V14 SR2 on Windows 7.

Also, I see HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Prineas\FileViewer\FolderTabs1 nd it has these values:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Prineas\FileViewer\FolderTabs1]
"Flags"=dword:00000001
"0"=hex:00,00,00,00,63,00,3a,00,5c,00,75,00,73,00,72,00,5c,00,74,00,65,00,73,\
00,74,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"1"=hex:00,00,00,00,63,00,3a,00,5c,00,6e,00,65,00,77,00,5c,00,6e,00,65,00,77,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00

Right-click on one of the tabs and select Global Tab Settings. Then enable Only Restore Locked Tabs on Startup.

Then enable Only Restore Locked Tabs on Startup.
Unfortunately, I do not want to have the locked tab behavior.

However, I tried your suggestion, then I disabled the the option, and it now works the way I want it to. I'm thinking it's not supposed to do this, since I have now disabled the lock option.

But since it works for me, I won't complain!

Thanks for the help. After all these years, V is still one of my 2 must have utilities!

All that the option means is that only tabs that you have explicitly locked will be restored.

Since you haven't locked any tabs, nothing will be restored (the behavior you want).
