v.exe is running but does not display anything

If I execute "v.exe", I can see that the exe is running, but there is no window displayed. If I use "send to" for a text file, v does display the requested file, but if i close the file, the window displays that v is "Not Responding"

I am using V 12, 64 bit version on a Win 7 64 bit, Enterprise edition, SP 1 with 4GB of ram. I have been using V since I received this PC - about 18 months or so. This is a recent issue - just the past few days I have been seeing this issue with V.

Does this happen for *all* files or just for some?

Can you give me the *exact* steps to reproduce the problem (including exactly how you start V and how you exit)?
