Hello -- window's explorer lets me type in the path box a network share name, ie
\\foobar
and if found, it will display the share available --- I think that it will also prompt for user/password if needed --
can this be added to V?

You have always been able to use a network path in V. V15 added support for password prompting if authentication is required.
Note that you must enter a complete network path - not just a computer name.
For example, you need to enter something like \\computername\foobar - \\computername will not work.
Re: network shares
thx for the info -- the supported way assume you know what the share name are -- I have hard drive(s) connected to my router and the router used spaces and blanks
and the volume id to ID the directories and shares on each of the HD

If you don't know the name you should be able to expand the Network branch of the Explorer tree to locate it.
