What is my Bottleneck?

Postby cunha00 » Sat Mar 29, 2014 5:54 pm

Hello!!

I use your program a lot for big file search. it is really great and I recommend it!

I have a question. Sometimes, I need to search/bookmark certain line, and that takes about 10 minutes (they are like 6gb text files). While file v searches the file, the other browsers and other programs run totally smooth, but I´d rather increase the reduce the speed of the search for better productivy. I wonder, is there an option that is off? there is some hardware limitation I´m not aware of?

I have a i5 4560, with 16gb 1600mhz ram, samsung ssd 840 evo, motherboard asus z87 (if i´m not wrong).

Thanks in advance!

No, there is no option to increase the search priority, and even if there was, I am not sure that it would make much of a difference.

You could try changing the priority of V just before doing a search to see if there is any improvement (use the Task Manager to set Priority to High).
