Bug? Filename Modify of multiple chgs created date / time

Postby Mike Mayne » Thu Jul 17, 2014 6:41 am

Bug or Feature? When I use the 'Filename Modify' function (not regex) on multiple files, I find that all of the file creation date / time values for all of the files that were selected are reset to the date and time of the first file:

Code: Select all

If you look at the last two files in the listing, they are the same file - the bottom one was freshly extracted from an archive, and the one above it was previously extracted and renamed. If it's a feature, I want a way to control it. If it's a bug...

Thanks.

Sorry, but I can't reproduce the problem - and I don't see any way that V can change the creation time of a file.

Are you sure that the creation times were different just before you modified the file names?

Is it possible to send me a set of files that I can use to reproduce the problem? If so, please send to v at fileviewer.com

My apologies, I've recreated the problem, and it's not V (sorry!). I'm down to 2 (and only 2) possible culprits: it's either a Win7 bug (less likely), or a WinZip Self Extractor bug (more likely). You'd have to see it to believe it. I can post (or e-mail) the recreate (with sample files) if you are interested...

Sorry for the false alarm.

You'd have to see it to believe it.

I assume that the problem is happening when the files are being extracted from a ZIP. Is that right? If so, have you tried extracting them with V?

If it isn't too much trouble, you can post a file in this forum in case someone else has the same problem.
