Windows 8

Postby GeorgeB » Sun Oct 21, 2012 6:58 pm

I haven't really looked at Windows 8, teaching an old dog new tricks ain't gonna happen. But I was in an office supply store the other day, and they had pretty much cleared out all the Win 7 machines in anticipation of the release of the new OS. Just wondering what your thoughts are, Charles, on the future of V.

A dual-pane file manager has been my primary means of interfacing with a computer since 1991 (DOS). I can't imagine managing the data accumulated since then any other way, especially with multiple tabs in the two panes, and running two or more instances of V.

I'm sure you don't have anything more important to do, so thought I'd ask a silly question and help you fill in your time.

Just wondering what your thoughts are, Charles, on the future of V.

My intention is that V will always run on the most recent Windows desktop platform.

V does run in the desktop environment of Windows 8, although I can see me making several adjustments over the next year to improve Windows 8 compatibility (in desktop mode).

I have no plans on turning V into a Metro app. In particular, V will not run on Windows RT tablets.

Very reassuring. Thanks for the reply.
