Re: What is my Bottleneck?

But I´d rather increase the reduce the speed of the search for better productivity. I wonder, is there an option that is off? No, there is no option to increase the search priority, and even if there was, I am not sure that it would make much of a difference. You could try changing the priority of ...

Re: EBCDIC Code page or Character set

Are you using a particular EBCDIC code page to do your conversion? The mapping is based on IBM Code Page 37 - but I have made a few adjustments after user feedback. You can see the mapping (and modify it) in the EBCDIC section of the Preferences. I've used the standard IBM037, 437 and 500 as well a...

Re: Context menu customize

I was wondering how complex it would be to allow a bit of customization of the context menu that pops up when you right click in V. I have been wanting to do this for many years - but I have always had things to do that had a higher priority. Unfortunately, there are a lot of options on the right m...

Re: prompt for password

Hello -- Is there an option or setting to have V prompt for a userid/password when traversing into a network share? No, unfortunately there isn't. If you want to access such folders, you will have to first authorize yourself using Windows Explorer - you should then be able to access the share in V....

Re: How to NOT save open files/tabs

Unfortunately, I do not want to have the locked tab behavior.

All that the option means is that only tabs that you have explicitly locked will be restored.

Since you haven't locked any tabs, nothing will be restored (the behavior you want).

Re: What is this symbol?

The flat file is delimited by a square character. What is this character called? Bytes in a file can be one of 256 characters (hex codes 00 to FF), however, not all characters are printable . What is displayed for an unprintable character depends on the font used to view the file - but most fonts w...

Re: How to NOT save open files/tabs

How do I make it forget all those tabs and only open with 1?

Right-click on one of the tabs and select Global Tab Settings. Then enable Only Restore Locked Tabs on Startup.

Re: Admin can't see etc directory Win2k8

When I navigated to the directory V could not find it, yet explorer does? This is because you are running the 32 bit version of V on a 64 bit version of Windows. Basically, the system32 folder that a 32 bit program sees is different to the system32 folder that a 64 bit program sees! I try to explai...

Re: Highlight All with Regex

It seems to be related to whether the Case option is selected

Can you give me some exact steps to reproduce the problem?
