EBCDIC Code page or Character set

Postby bgolfer66 » Fri Feb 14, 2014 7:14 am

Hello,

Are you using a particular EBCDIC code page to do your conversion?

While this isn't an exact V FileViewer issue, I am trying to convert an EBCDIC file to Ascii and there are a few characters that don't seem to convert properly. They get changed to the default ?.
When I load them into V, they are correctly converted.

I noticed in your default mapping that the characters I am having trouble with are mapped correctly (Or at least the way I need them to convert)
I've used the standard IBM037, 437 and 500 as well as many others but they don't seem to work properly.

The EBCDIC charactes in question are x08 --> Ascii x97, and x0A --> Ascii x8E
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The mapping is based on IBM Code Page 37 - but I have made a few adjustments after user feedback.
You can see the mapping (and modify it) in the EBCDIC section of the Preferences.

I've used the standard IBM037, 437 and 500 as well as many others but they don't seem to work properly.

IBM037 should convert these correctly.
